Abstract

In order to find out the cause of large area corrosion of S135 drill pipe in northwest oil field, the effects of different chloride concentration solutions on the corrosion rate of S135 drill pipe were studied under the simulated test condition: 80 ℃, pH=10, DO 3~4 mg/L, and the test period of 120 h. Results showed that the corrosion mechanism of S135 drill pipe was mainly oxygen uniform corrosion. When the chloride concentration was lower (10 000~50 000 mg/L), the corrosion rate of S135 drill pipe decreased with the increase of chloride concentration (0.25~0.02 mm/a); when the chloride concentration reached 110 000 mg/L, the corrosion rate decreased to 0.05 mm/a, which was related to the displacement of dissolved oxygen when the chloride ion content increased.
