Abstract

For promoting the application of amino acids inhibitors, the corrosion inhibition effect and mechanism of vanillin L - lysine and vanillin L - tyrosine on 1060 pure aluminum in 2 mol/L HCl solution by electrochemical measurements, scanning electron microscopy, energy spectrum analysis and kinetic methods. Result showed that vanillin L - lysine Schiff base and vanillin L - tyrosine Schiff base could effectively inhibit the corrosion of pure aluminum in 2 mol/L HCl solution at 25 ℃. When the concentration reached 2 g/L and 4 g/L, respectively, the best corrosion inhibition efficiency was obtained, and all of them acted as a mixed - type inhibitor. EDS data indicated that electron - negative elements such as O and N in Schiff base molecules were adsorbed on the surface of 1060 pure aluminum. These two Schiff based corrosion inhibitors increased the corrosion activation energy of pure aluminum by adsorbing and forming a film on the surface of 1060 pure aluminum, which led to a higher energy barrier in the corrosion reaction and the effectively decrease of the corrosion rate of 1060 pure aluminum in 2 mol/L HCl solution.
