Abstract

For studying the effect of thermal oxidative decomposition temperature on surface morphology, electrocatalytic activities and service life of Ti/RuO2-TiO2 electrode, the Ti/RuO2-TiO2 anode was prepared by sintering a mixed solution of ruthenium chloride and tetra-n-butyl titanate at different temperatures.Scanning electron microscopy(SEM), X-ray diffraction(XRD), cyclic voltammetry(CV)curve, linear sweep voltammetry(LSV)curve and accelerated life test were employed to analyze the effects of calcination temperature on surface morphology, phase, electrocatalytic activities and service life of Ti/RuO2-TiO2 electrode.Results showed that with the increases of calcination temperature, the microstructure and morphology of electrode coating surface, the electrocatalytic activity and stability of the electrode changed greatly. The increases of calcination temperature caused that the electrocatalytic activity of the prepared electrode generally decreased.Meanwhile, the stability and electrocatalytic activity of the electrode prepared below 450 ℃ were better, and the stability and electrocatalytic activity of the electrode prepared above 450℃ were poor.In contrast, the electrode obtained at 450℃ possessed the optimal stability, the electrocatalytic activity of which was second only to that at 420 ℃, and the chlorine evolution potential was 1.087 V.
