Abstract

In order to explore the performance of conversion coatings on surface of AA 3003 aluminum-based reticulated shell structure in large sports stadium, the high-magnification electron microscopy, energy spectrum analysis, traditional electrochemistry measurements and high-resolution Raman spectroscopy were employed to study the microstructure, chemical components, formation process of film and electrochemical property of trivalent chromium conversion coatings. Results showed that the trivalent chromium conversion film on the surface of AA 3003 aluminum alloy was dense, and the atomic ratio of the main component Cr/Zr of coatings was about 0.34.In addition, ZrO2(470 cm-1)and Cr2O3(537 cm-1)were the main components. The minimum and final stable values of open circuit potentials during the formation of conversion coating were-1.32 and-1.15 V(vs SCE), respectively. Moreover, the trivalent chromium conversion coating evidently reduced the corrosion current density of alloys in 0.1 mol/L NaCl solution, especially in the cathodic inhibition aspect.
