Abstract

Due to the high chemical activity and the porous oxide film on the surface, magnesium alloys have poor corrosion resistance, which limits their wide application in the industrial field. By preparing super - hydrophobic coating on the surface of magnesium alloy, the direct contact between the magnesium alloy surface and the corrosive medium can be effectively avoided, and thus the corrosion resistance of the magnesium alloy can be improved. Based on a brief overview of the theory of material surface wettability, the fabrication techniques of magnesium alloy super - hydrophobic surface at home and abroad, including sol - gel method, immersion method, hydrothermal method, electrochemical deposition method and etching method were summerized in this work. The advantages and disadvantages of these preparation methods were discussed. Finally, the development direction of magnesium alloy super - hydrophobic surface was prospected.
