Abstract

There are a large number of pipelines/equipment and facilities need to be thermally insulated in the petroleum and petrochemical industry. However, in the practical operation, many problems may appear in the thermal insulation structures, such as thermal insulation structure failure and corrosion under the thermal insulation which could bring safety risks to the production. In this work, the causes and evaluation methods of thermal insulation structure failure as well as the life evaluation mehtods of thermal insulation structure in the above - mentioned industry were summarized. Meanwhile, the detection method of corrosion under the thermal insulation layer in such industry as well as some corresponding anticorrosion methods were reviewed, with the expectation of providing certain guidance for solving the corrosion problem under the thermal insulation layer in the petroleum and petrochemical industry.
