Abstract

To address the issues currently faced by themicro-arc oxidation(MAO) system in practical applications, such as difficulties in processing large-sized workpiece surfaces and challenges in the precise control of MAO on local areas of the workpieces, a mobile MAO system was designed by using a mechanical arm. The ceramic coating was successfully prepared by MAO treatment on the surface of 1060 aluminum alloy. The microstructure, composition, wear resistance and corrosion resistance of the coating were analyzed through scanning electron microscopy(SEM), X-ray diffraction(XRD), friction and wear experiments and electrochemical corrosion experiments. Results showed that ceramic coatings on the surface of aluminum alloys could be effectively generated using mobile MAO technology based on mechanical arm assistance, and the wear resistance and corrosion resistance of aluminum alloys were effectively improved. This study provided an important theoretical and experimental basis for the preparation of high-performance ceramic coatings on aluminum alloy surfaces using mobile MAO technology based on mechanical arms.
